Provence on the whole is blessed with a magnificent Mediterranean climate, meaning hot, dry summers and mild winters and plenty of sun! However, within the region of Provence you will find variations in weather, such as the Alpine climate in Nice and plenty of wind near the coast. The great thing about visiting a region like Provence is that there are so many great places to visit within only a few hours' drive - including everything from boutique shops to mountains for you to climb or ski.
Places to Go
With cities and towns that include Marseille, Nice and St-Tropez you'll never be lost for things to do in the amazing region of Provence. Unlike most holidays where you're stuck in one destination, there's so much to see that you will most likely have to visit more than once!
The Maritime Alps are often considered as part of Provence, and are therefore classed as the highest peaks in Provence - if you don't consider the Maritime Alps to be a part of this magnificent region then the next highest peak is the Mont Ventoux at 1,909m.
Get to Know the Language
Have you ever wanted to feel like a local when you're on holiday? Instead of just learning French, why not take a few classes in Provençal and impress the locals (mostly elderly!)? Whilst not many people speak Provençal, it is still taught in schools and universities in Provence.
The pace in Provence is still very slow compared to other places in France and Europe, providing the perfect holiday to get away from the 'rate race' that is life. whether you enjoy shopping in boutiques, hanging out in French cafe's, visiting museums or the incredible mountains, you've got it all in this beautiful region!
So what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and get on the next flight to Nice before you miss out on this summer's incredible weather!
